K Factor Calculator
Functionality
K factors are calibration values (pulses per unit volume) used to convert flow sensor output frequencies to flow rates. This calculation tool helps you determine the correct K factor for your flow sensor.
GF Signet publishes K-factors for water in gallons (powder per gallon) and liters (powder per liter) only for all flow sensors, all applicable pipe sizes and materials, or all pipe fitting sizes and materials. applicable installation. Please contact GF Piping Systems Japan for JIS K factors.
K factors for liquids other than water must be determined empirically, usually in situ using a secondary parameter. The number of pulses per volumetric unit may vary depending on the medium and the installation. For optimal performance, the system must be calibrated after installation.
How does it work?
- Select the splice type you are using.
- Choose the Signet flow sensor you are using.
- Fill in the parameters to get the K factor.
NOTE: For other pipe sizes, statistical K factors may be available in the online K Factor Calculator tool.
Alternatively, contact technical support for more information. The roughness of the pipe can influence the K factor; this is not taken into account in the calculation method. K factors are calculated for the following selections and are approximate values.
For best results, perform a flow calibration.
