TRILUX offers a more sustainable version of its Oleveon Fit and Aragon Fit luminaires. Both the diffuser and the housing are made of 100% recycled plastic, maintaining their high quality and significantly reducing the environmental impact.
Since June, the Oleveon Fit and Aragon Fit luminaires have been available in a more sustainable version. Both the diffuser and the housing are made of 100% recycled plastic, without compromising on quality, but with a significant environmental impact.
More than a research project
As part of TRILUX’s sustainability strategy, it continuously seeks to reduce the carbon footprint and resource consumption of its products. The Spanish subsidiary, Zalux, has developed moisture-resistant luminaires made from recycled materials. According to Manuel Pina, Sustainability Director at Zalux, “the specific market demand prompted us to move forward quickly with this innovation.”
Diffusers made with post-industrial plastic
A key objective of the project was to ensure that the recycled materials used did not compromise the performance of the luminaires, in particular their efficiency, light quality or durability. To achieve this, different materials were selected for the housing and diffuser.
For the diffuser, post-industrial PC waste from the production of automobiles and consumer electronics was used. These include materials discarded as headlight housings or monitor screens. This high-quality polycarbonate ensures excellent optical performance of the moisture-proof luminaire diffusers.

Instead, less demanding post-consumer materials were used for the housing, made from recycled polycarbonate bottles. They were exclusively ecological bottles, as the material must remain pure, which results in a subtle translucent green tone. This has been preserved not only for sustainability reasons, but also to avoid dyeing. The color provides a subtle accent that distinguishes these luminaires as a particularly sustainable solution for use in demanding environments.
In addition, the luminaires are compatible with LiveLink sensor and lighting management technology, which further reduces CO₂ emissions during the use phase and allows for a more holistic approach to sustainability.
COMPLETE TESTS: Same quality
The recycled materials in pellet form are purchased by TRILUX from a European supplier, which allows TRILUX to seamlessly integrate them into its regular production process.
“Through comprehensive material and quality testing, we ensure that products made from recycled materials have the same high-quality properties as those made from virgin materials,” explains Manuel Pina.
The project began in April 2023, with the search for suppliers led by Diego Coello, Plastics Category Manager at TRILUX GROUP. Material testing, production and product trials and the final launch were led by Luis Betrian from Engineering between January and June 2024.
Since November, the Aragon Fit and Oleveon Fit in their new recycled versions have been available, recognizable by their green casing and the ‘RCY’ designation in their name.
