Valve Sizing Tool
Functionality
This tool allows us to find the optimal dimension of the valve that we must use.
Many installers still automatically choose valves and pipes of the same dimensions, although a smaller valve is often better for accurate flow. This calculator helps you figure out the best valve size for your installation.
How does it work?
- Select the valve type and pipe size and enter your process parameters.
- Below you can choose between different valve sizes.
- If the operating range of the selected valve is optimal, you will see it in the green area of the diagram, delimited by two red lines. If not, correct it as follows:
- If the opening angle is on the front orange side (“vibration”), select a smaller valve size.
- If the opening angle is on the back orange side (“cavitation”), select a larger valve size.
- If there are no red lines on the graph, check if the flow rates are within the range of the selected valve.
If you don’t know the exact value of inlet pressure (P1) and outlet pressure (P2), we suggest you start with ΔP = 1 bar / 14.5 psi (ΔP = P1-P2).
