How can you organize the wiring of a desk?
The need to adapt offices to new times and other recent situations
New ways of working, the need to adapt offices to new times and other recent situations, force us to rethink what offices are like and, among others, how to organize the wiring of desks and work tables.
Feeling comfortable in the workplace where we have to spend hours is a must nowadays. Offices with cubicles as we knew them are over and we have given way to a new way of understanding workplaces, more dynamic and uncomplicated.
It is for this very reason that the electrical installations we were used to until today are gradually becoming obsolete and companies are starting to look for new possibilities that allow them to organize wiring, desks and others, in a way that is attractive and efficient the worker.
What kind of electrical installation did we know until today?
As we said, until these days we have always had a basic distribution of electrical installation in our workplaces, thus forcing us to organize the wiring and the desks in a specific and highly improveable way in terms of efficiency.
One of the most well-known is the electrical installation through the wall, from where all the cables and electrical connections needed to create a work environment, such as desks, printers or specific machinery, came out. In this way, the work space was completely at the mercy of these connections, producing a void around the work space or room, which could not be used in the best possible way. The only option was to place auxiliary furniture that did not require an electrical connection, which nowadays means losing important space given the importance of connectivity in offices.
This rigidity when designing a space as relevant and used as an office caused problems when working, among which there is a poor organization of the space, unorganized cables, little comfort or the problems that they arose when it was necessary to redistribute space.
What other options do we have when it comes to installing and arranging cabling and desks?
Due to this rigidity, companies began to look for new solutions that caused the appearance of floor boxes. This meant that, finally, the electrical installation and, therefore, the organization of the space, were not dependent on the walls and the connections that came out of them.
From that moment, it was possible to take advantage of the possibility of creating spaces where the central area of the floor also had connections. This made it possible to generate most of the offices we know today, grouped in islands of desks or segregated, taking advantage of all the space from where all the cabling that feeds and connects all the necessary devices is distributed, from computers , screens, phones, etc.
One of the few incidents that this form of installation can generate, and the most important, is what it means for the new forms of work that are settling in the landscape of offices and companies. The need to move from one side to the other, have virtual meetings, work side by side with colleagues from different projects and much more causes certain limitations, since the floor boxes are not movable and therefore do not allow to modify largely the spaces.
The possibilities and solutions that arise for organizing cabling and desks in new offices
Being aware of this situation, it didn’t take long for new options and solutions to emerge, among which those from SIMON stand out, to have modern offices that allow working efficiently and adapted today. The answer that has emerged is the evolution to have a technical floor, elevated with respect to the real one, and place electrical distribution boxes there.
The great advantage of this solution lies in the fact that, thanks to the technical floor, we can easily place the electrical distribution box anywhere, since it will not be seen or obstruct the passage or the placement of the furniture. In addition, if the box is short for us and no longer has enough electrical connections and, therefore, we want to expand them, we can easily concatenate several as long as we do not exceed the limit of energy used by each enabled circuit.
Thanks to these new solutions such as those offered by SIMON, offices enter a new dimension that allows them to organize and distribute electrical wiring efficiently, allowing changes and future adaptations to be made quickly, generating an installation system much more versatile.
