AC500 CPUs have been designed to offer the ease, security and reliability needed to adapt to the new challenges of automation.
Integration

Communications

- The web server built into the CPU provides a customizable graphical interface to access PLC data via a web browser anytime, anywhere.
- If the CPU has the integrated Ethernet port, the following protocols will be available: HTTP (web server), FTP (file transfer), SNTP (date and time synchronization), SMTP (sending email) and IEC 60870-5- 104 (remote control protocol).
Applications

AC500 communication modules
ABB has developed different communication options for the AC500 platform, both at the control and field level. This benefits customers by making their automation solution backward-compatible, present-ready, and future-ready.
- The base of the AC500 CPU has 4 communication interfaces (serial and Ethernet among others) and allows the addition of up to 4 communication modules (depending on the chosen terminal base).
- These optional communication modules provide a wide variety of communication possibilities and can be integrated in different combinations for large and small automation solutions.

AC500 remote headers
ABB has developed different remote headers to be able to connect the I/O signals in a distributed way using different buses and communication networks.
- ABB offers a wide range of remote headers with the aim of keeping the automation solution compatible with the past, adapted to the present and ready for the future.
- In addition, most remote headers have integrated I/O (digital and analog) and functions such as fast counting.

S500 I/O modules
ABB proposes to make expanding or adding field devices a simple task for the user. For this reason, it has developed I/O modules configurable by software independently and multifunctional, which allow to adapt to different automation requirements: fast counting, signal ranges, etc.
It is possible to choose and combine any type of module with the following characteristics:

AC500 condition monitoring CMS
Monitoring and prediction of machine status based on AC500
The new FM502 module helps you monitor machine health, resulting in greater efficiency and reliability, minimizing operating and maintenance costs. This equipment can punch in a stand-alone installation or integrated with the AC500 PLC modular platform.
- Monitoring of signals at high frequencies (vibrations, current, voltage, speed/encoder).
- The FM502-CMS module must be connected to the TF5x1 terminal base for direct connection to the CPU, communication modules, and other I/O.
- The PM592 CPU uses the same TF5x1 base (data storage, signal processing or communications, C code for self-diagnosis algorithms, 4GB flash disk for fingerprints, data logging or trend indicator).

FM502-CMS module
- 128 MB of local memory.
- 16 analog inputs, all synchronously sampled; configurable as IEPE or +-10V.
- 50k samples/s per channel, 24bit ADC, adjustable sampling per channel, start, stop, trigger.
- Encoder inputs (5V or 24V) at 300 kHz, 2 counters; 12 modes, includes absolute SSI (1 MHz).
- Compact WAV files automatically delivered to the CPU, including sync signals from the encoder.
- Input values always available for fast I/O protection on the CPU (Even if no measurement is running).
